  • The Permitting Specialist will be responsible for obtaining and managing all necessary permits and licenses required for oil and gas operations in Mexico. The role requires strong knowledge of local regulations, environmental standards, and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices. The specialist will work closely with regulatory agencies, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with all legal and environmental requirements.
  • Obtain and renew permits and licenses required for oil and gas projects.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and local authorities.
  • Monitor changes in regulations and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, reports, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with HSE teams to ensure all projects meet health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams regarding permitting requirements.
  • Participate in audits and inspections conducted by regulatory bodies.
  • Keep records of all permitting activities and ensure they are up-to-date and accurate.
  • Manage the timeline for permit acquisition and ensure compliance with project schedules.
  • Maintain a database of permitting requirements and best practices for future projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers or leaders to ensure all necessary documents and plans are submitted for permit applications.
  • Identify potential permitting issues and work with internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient in Spanish (written & spoken)
  • Proficient in English (written & spoken)
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in permitting within the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in onshore and offshore projects.
  • Microsoft tools
  • Demonstrable technical knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory requirements for projects at all stages of the permitting process.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican regulatory frameworks in HSE standards.
  • Knowledge of CNH and ASEA Requirements to operate
  • Strong ability to create and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to operate in an agile environment, working in cross-functional and multicultural teams
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage the permitting process for multiple projects.
