Permian Basin Overview

ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. The transformational acquisitions of Concho Resources Inc. and Shell Enterprises LLC’s prolific positions in the Delaware and Midland Basins in 2021 further strengthened the company’s position in the Permian Basin. At year-end 2023, the company held approximately 1 million total net acres in the Permian Basin.

During 2023, net production averaged 719 MBOED.

Description

If you are selected as the Pipeline Operator, you will be responsible for performing duties related to daily operations and maintenance of company-owned pipelines. You will also assist with pipeline maintenance projects such as pigging operations, start-ups and shutdowns, and replacement of pipeline components and systems.

This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Perform pigging operations on various types of pipelines
  • Perform preventative pipeline facility maintenance
  • Perform or assist with pipeline repairs
  • Follow all regulatory, environmental and safety rules and standards, as well as company policies
  • Be knowledgeable of company, state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Maintain solid understanding of regulatory requirements, (OSHA, DOT, etc.) document required regulatory activities
  • Plan, coordinate and prioritize assigned responsibilities and work independently if needed
  • Maintain required forms, records and reports
  • Perform maintenance on air eliminators installed on produced water lines
  • Monitor activity in and around pipeline and facilities and respond as necessary to protect system integrity
  • Provide feedback to engineering on pipeline operations
  • Respond to pipeline emergencies; perform cleanup associated with field ops and corrosion control activities
  • Efficiently and safely operate pipeline equipment/systems
  • Support other business groups (such as Asset & Operations Integrity, Construction, Damage Prevention, etc.) with a variety pipeline related activity

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Current / Valid Driver’s License
  • 5+ years experience in the oil and gas industry
  • 1+ years experience in pipeline operations
  • Intermediate proficiency with SAP and SAP-PM
  • Intermediate proficiency with GIS
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform/align with the following: Complete written and electronic documentation of activities performed, Able to follow company procedures and make safety a priority, Work in temperature extremes or adverse weather conditions, Work in several different geographic locations every single day, Work both in and out of a company-owned vehicle, Wear appropriate special safety equipment, Walk, bend, stoop, lift, push, and pull, Use hand tools to make minor repairs

Preferred:

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of procedures used to safely pig pipeline, i.e. launching, receiving and inspection
  • Experience with DOT regulated pipelines
  • Detail-oriented with commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement
  • Ability to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and prioritize multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
  • Ability to effectively handle priorities while working with various types of people
  • Ambitious and proactive with good communications skills
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
  • Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
