Description:

To further support the functional excellence and collaboration in the areas of long-range planning and providing accurate and insightful financial analysis to the Canada Senior Leadership Team, the Canada Planning and Economics team is seeking a Planning Coordinator.  Working closely with their Planning and Investment Appraisal peers, the successful candidate will provide direct planning support for corporate submissions, SLT support, and process optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for coordination and preparation of asset teams annual Long-Range Plan (LRP).
  • Support overall coordination of the annual planning exercises, including consolidation of the BU plans and preparation of all review and submission materials.
  • Participate as an integral team member on multi-disciplined asset teams seeking to improve asset performance and reporting. Responsible for assisting and influencing asset teams in the investment decision-making process and supporting strategy initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate planning stakeholders, including S&PM, Supply Chain, and Low Carbon teams.
  • Support corporate initiatives including Board Strategy Sessions, Market Updates, Earnings Calls, LivePlan submissions, and other financial processes.
  • Analyze industry, government, and regulatory developments/changes, with respect to potential impacts on strategy, growth opportunities, economics, and profitability.
  • Strong understanding of fiscal regimes and how to incorporate them in financial & economic modeling.
  • Communicate evaluations and analyses for all levels of management.
  • Contribute to the advancement of long-range planning capability and capacity in the Canada region.
  • Support the continuous improvement of long-range planning tools and processes.
  • Contribute to the advancement of data management, data integration, automation, and reporting.
  • Self-starter with the ability to handle responsibility and deliver on stakeholder requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, related field, or foreign equivalent
  • High aptitude for critical thinking – able to successfully frame and implement solutions for complex problem statements.
  • Proficient in data management and data modeling
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve deliverables in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Knowledge of investment appraisal principles and procedures
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of database systems (Essbase, Oracle EPM, Power Query)
  • Experience with Quorum Energy Suite (formerly Aucerna) applications (Planning Space, esi.manage, Enersight, Val Nav, Execute)
  • 5+ years’ experience in long-range planning or near-term forecasting in the oil and gas industry
