Job Posting: Plumbing Design Engineer

Location: San Antonio, TX
Job Type: Full-Time

Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Plumbing Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, lab/medical systems, and fire protection for various commercial buildings. Key responsibilities include performing pressure loss, pump head, roof drain, and fixture unit calculations; coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams under the guidance of senior staff; working closely with project managers to ensure timely project completion within budget; attending design meetings; and conducting construction site visits to verify code compliance and construction progress.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Proficient in the design and production of construction documents, including plans, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates (preferred)
  • Experience in construction administration (RFIs, submittal reviews, site visits, and change order reviews)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Familiarity with commercial, educational, laboratory, and healthcare design (preferred)
  • Knowledge of building and plumbing codes, including NFPA standards
  • Ability to independently select appropriate fixtures and equipment

Technology/Computer Experience:

  • Proficient in MS Office 10 Pro (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote)
  • Expertise in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of BIM Collaborate Pro and Bluebeam (preferred)
  • Familiarity with standard office equipment

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field (preferred)
  • Technical program degree in Mechanical Design (preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of recent plumbing design experience for commercial structures with an A/E or MEP firm (preferred)

Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse difficult terrain at construction sites without assistance
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
