JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL ENGINEER – COMMISSIONING

 

       KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify requirements and scope of work; review specifications, drawings, and other documents of the project; and establish applicability to the scope of work.

  • Carry out a detailed assessment of the commissioning work involved and assess the available resources and possible constraints in its execution.

  • Ability to review contractual documents and identify project requirements, constraints, and risks.

  • Provide the necessary inputs for commissioning proposals at the bidding stage.

  • Inspect and ensure all construction activities are completed prior to taking up the system for commissioning, and ensure the setting up of safety procedures for the same.

  • Ensure that all safety and precautionary requirements and procedures are followed during the commissioning.

  • Responsible for discussing and getting the approval of pre-commissioning, commissioning, and operations procedures from clients.

  • Ability to lead the subcontractor in the safe execution of pre-commissioning activities in line with the schedule.

  • Manages risk as assigned by the commissioning manager, project management, and/or site management by reviewing risk on a regular basis.

  • Hold regular reviews of risk assessments and meetings with the client on issues such as HSE.

  • Be aware of cost monitoring, control expenses, and report overruns to management.

  • Be continually present on the field to guarantee the quality and progress of the work.

  • Lead commissioning & start-up multi-disciplinary team-building project execution.

  • Clear punch list items as necessary after checking at the site.

  • Regularly contact discipline engineers and supervisors to solve problems related to project execution work safely.

  • Regular communication with the subcontractor execution team.

  • Liaise & coordinate with commissioning engineers and provide them support and guidelines for technical commissioning-related issues.

  • Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as and when directed by the supervisor.

  • Lead the entire electrical commissioning team, be responsible for all electrical commissioning phases, and have a strong engineering background in electrical field devices and control systems.

  • Ability to manage the entire electrical commissioning team and the ability to organize and run the team ( engineers, supervisors, and technicians)

  • Direct the daily activities related to electrical SAT, energization, and functional testing.

  • Provide technical support and problem resolution on different electrical equipment: transformers, HV/LV switchboards, motors, and relay protection systems.

  • Interact with QA/QC to ensure compliance with company quality procedures. Coordinate internal and client audit requests.

  • Able to analyze technical issues and resolve them to initiate an appropriate corrective action and report the same to the direct line management.

  • Responsible to interface with clients as required, attend internal project meetings, and ensure the progress of electrical commissioning discipline in accordance with schedule.

 

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Engineering Degree, with a 10–12 years’ minimum in Electrical Commissioning.
