Permian Basin Overview

ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. The transformational acquisitions of Concho Resources Inc. and Shell Enterprises LLC’s prolific positions in the Delaware and Midland Basins in 2021 further strengthened the company’s position in the Permian Basin. At year-end 2023, the company held approximately 1 million total net acres in the Permian Basin. 

During 2023, net production averaged 719 MBOED.

Description

The Permian Joint Venture team is seeking a Production Analyst with background in production data workflows, data analytics, and production reporting.

The company’s competitive portfolio includes assets operated by others in both Midland and Delaware Basin. Through partnerships with leading operators in the Permian, ConocoPhillips has a high-quality opportunity set that provides program flexibility and optionality. The OBO position is a strategic complement to the company’s operated position with ongoing acreage trades and business development transactions to manage risk and improve overall value of all Delaware and Midland basin assets.

In 2023, the company participated in over 500 gross new drilled wells operated by others with an average working interest of 18%. The OBO position includes over 5,300 gross non-operated producing wells.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Serve as Focal Point of Contact for all Non-Operated production related topics
  • Responsible for managing and overseeing the quality of all production data for the Permian (Delaware & Midland Basin) Non-Operated wells (>4,000) resulting in ~200,000+ BOED
  • Maintain continuous engagement with team members and vendor (PDS Exchange), as well as oversight on partner’s production reporting systems to ensure completeness and accuracy of production data
  • Responsible for maintaining production data quality and coordinate timely feed into Teradata, ValNav, Daily Production Report (DPR), Production Revenue Accounting (PRA), Joint Venture Integrated Data Platform, etc
  • Work closely with Reservoir Engineers to identify and explain production variances by leveraging actualized and forecasted data
  • Coordinate with Permian Finance on day-to-day and month end reporting: one-liner, production accruals, etc
  • Build, maintain and optimize production reports and data analytics tools (Spotfire/PowerBI) as needed
  • Provide ad-hoc support for studies and special projects for the Joint Venture team

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • 3 or more years of experience in the energy industry
  • 1 or more years of experience as a Production or Reservoir Engineering Tech or Analyst
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Spotfire and PowerBI or other similar data visualization and analytics tools
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Word

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or higher in Business, Engineering, other related degree or foreign equivalent.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Python, SQL, VBA, and R scripts
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with various industry databases and software (Spotfire, ValNav, Aeries, OFM, Enersight, Generwell, Wellview, TDM)
  • Demonstrates strong technical database management best practices, recommends changes to improve existing processes, and implements data QA/QC methods
  • Applies skills to develop new workflows and standard processes to solve problems effectively.
  • High level of initiative, energy, and creativity
  • Strong organizational skills – ability to prioritize activities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
