Production Engineer – Equatorial Guinea Job

Job Overview:


The successful candidate will be located in Houston, TX and responsible for providing production engineering support to Marathon’s Equatorial Guinea asset. The position requires interfacing with Marathon’s Alba field and office employees, contractors, well intervention personnel, and vendors to optimize production in a safe and environmentally sound manner.  Effective teamwork is required to streamline business process.


 


Due to the projected activity level in this area, the candidate must be highly motivated and willing to independently develop and provide solutions including incorporating new technology to advance company profitability.  The position is fast-paced with a high level of responsibility and is technically rewarding.  The successful candidate will be located in Houston, TX but expected to travel periodically to field locations in Equatorial Guinea.


 


Job Responsibilities:


  • Monitor production performance and recommend activities to maintain and increase rates including coil tubing, bullheading, wireline, foamer, etc.
  • Interact with other team members, field personnel, well intervention employees, vendors, and other assets in a manner that will help build respect and achieve team and company goals.
  • Work to enhance the operation’s safety and environmental record.  Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and plans along with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Serve as Project Manager for slickline/eline, coiled tubing & well intervention campaigns

    • Work with Global Supply Chain to prepare RFP templates and evaluate contractor proposals for well work.
    • Work Global Supply Chain to develop, negotiate & execute Contracts with well intervention vendors
    • Bring in new contractors as needed, to provide specialized tooling and experienced onsite personnel to ensure the success of well work projects
    • Guide engineering and development of detailed procedures and contingencies for each well
    • Develop detailed project schedule & refined cost estimates
    • Facilitate project planning   & execution readiness meetings with Contractors, SST & MEGPL Teams
    • Guide Peer Reviews & Risk Assessments for procedures/project
    • Provide onsite supervision (in Equatorial Guinea) for intervention campaigns.
    • Mentor/Develop less experienced Production Engineers

  • Work with Alba Offshore Team to prepare for turnarounds XXXX
  • Provide 24/7/365 production engineering support to Alba Offshore Team to solve numerous production issues throughout the year
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for budget projects & AFEs
  • Be proactive with continuous learning in all areas, especially emerging technology.
  • Knowledge of Marathon’s policies and procedures, especially with production reporting, environmental and safety issues and measurement and production site security procedures.


 


Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, or equivalent, engineering degree required
  • Served as Project Manager for slickline/eline, coiled tubing & well intervention campaigns
  • 10+ years of conventional production engineering experience


 


20% travel to field locations required
