Permian Basin Overview

ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. Permian saw significant growth in 2021 with the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc. in January 2021 and the addition of Shell’s Permian acreage in December 2021. At year-end, the company held approximately 1.5 million net acres in the Permian Basin.

Net production for the Permian in 2022 was 461 MBOED.

Description

If you are selected as the Delaware Staff Project Controls Specialist, you will report to the Delaware Basin East Facilities Engineering Supervisor. You will be responsible for the development and management of the facility project schedule and cost analysis through the various FEL phases, Execution and Commissioning phases of the Project. (HOW) program that is designed to provide employees with flexibility while maintaining the advantages of in-person engagement.

This is a Safety Sensitive position.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Own the facility component of the integrated schedule for Delaware Basin East Facilities Engineering team. This includes developing and maintaining the individual schedules and ensuring alignment across a multifunction group to ensure the facility component of the integrated schedule accurately reflects the overall plan. This scope typically includes well facility, and pipeline facility scopes
  • Integrate cost data provided by facility engineering and development engineering with the schedule to support development of the LRP and capital forecasting
  • Assign resources (material/crews) to the schedule to assist with the development and understanding of resource loading and equipment/material demand
  • Prepare periodic reports highlighting the progress/status of all activities and highlight concerns/risk for the assets review
  • Collaborate with each of the asset facility engineering group to ensure the project status and progress to date are reflective of the schedule
  • Develop and maintain complex/central facility projects (Tier 1 & 2) schedules from FEL-2 through Execute. This includes Identifying the list of long lead items, ensuring that all schedule logic and durations are consistent with project benchmarks for the various project activities (engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, start-up, and handover to Operations), and confirming the schedule aligns with the CPMS & L48 CPMS Planning Standard and Procedures

Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
  • 5+ years project controls experience of large projects or multiple small projects in upstream Oil & Gas
  • 1+ years of experience in preparing automated and integrated project controls
  • Intermediate proficiency in use of project planning software. (Primavera version 5 or 6; MS Project)
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work within a 40-mile radius of Midland, TX

Preferred:

  • 10+ years project controls experience of large projects or multiple small projects in upstream Oil & Gas
  • Proficiency in use of project planning and risk analysis software (Primavera version 5 or 6; Pertmaster; MS Project; Monte Carlo)
  • Knowledge of Project Controls, Cost Engineering, Planning & Scheduling, Forecasting (Work In Progress/Earned Value), Accruals and General Accounting
  • Demonstrable ability to develop reports for, and presentations to management
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
  • Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
