ExxonMobil’s state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team

 

We are seeking an experienced project development engineer to join our Beaumont Area Projects team in Beaumont, Texas.

The Project Development Engineer is a role which provides the opportunity to build a strong project development foundation through exposure across all stages of ExxonMobil’s capital project system. A project development engineer performs the duties of both a project manager and a process design engineer.

Project development engineers are responsible for successful cross functional, integrated project performance as they lead multi-discipline teams for successful delivery of a portfolio of projects. Work assignments will focus on providing the experiences needed to build core project development skills, including project management, process design, offsites & utilities design, and process safety.
 

What you will do

 

  • Plan, organize, and lead multi-discipline team deliverables and activities to progress projects through early development stages

  • Coordinate technical activities to support evaluation of project concept alternatives and concept selection

  • Participate in the development of the facilities basis to a FEL1 and 2 quality

  • Develop and steward work plan for project. Communicates progress, risks, critical bottlenecks and opportunities to stakeholders in early stages

  • Develop heat & material balances, PFDs and preliminary flow plans

  • Perform critical field verifications for equipment, utilities and bulks (piping, cabling).

  • Provide oversight to FEED contractor PFDs and P&lDs

  • Interface and provide input to cost & schedule estimates, execution plans, and contracting strategy

  • Provide oversight and quality control of EPC contractor deliverables to ensure they undergo the appropriate deviation review and approval process

  • Participate in and contribute to facilities and systems reviews and resolutions as required, including P&lD, HAZOP, 3D Model, and Protective Systems Reviews

  • Participate in field-based activities to support systems completion, turnover, and start-up

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • B.S. in chemical or mechanical engineering

  • Minimum 3-5 years of work experience performing project management and/or process design roles

  • A self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills

  • Permanent right to work in US (must have)

Preferred knowledge / Skills / Abilities

 

  • Experience working in the oil and gas / petrochemical industry, especially developing projects as an owner/operator engineer

  • Knowledge and experience in project management fundamental skills such as planning, scheduling, cost estimation, benchmarking, and engineering management

  • Understanding of process design and process safety principles with experience in inherent SSHE, HAZOP/PHA, safety relief review, and development of safety instrumented systems

  • Strong team player who demonstrates openness & transparency, leads by example, and collaborates across organizational boundaries to maximize business value
