HYBRID ELIGIBILITY
This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Houston, TX. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Engineer (PE) will be part of the Infrastructure Execution Team and larger overall Midstream – Infrastructure Organization. The PE will be responsible for delivering projects that will focus on midstream surface facilities including but not limited to projects at gas plants, compressor stations, oil handling facilities, and water disposal facilities. The PE may also take part in executing projects that support upstream well pad facilities or for other surface facility support such as Bakken drilling or completions. In general projects are expected to range from $1 MM to $25 MM, with the opportunity to take on larger projects ranging $50MM to $150MM. Typical project durations ranging from 6 to 18 months. The PE is responsible for all project execution objectives in the Refine and Implement stages as well as other project execution activities including engineering, procurement, permitting, construction, and commissioning. The PE works closely with multiple Hess stakeholders including Developments, Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Land, Regulatory, Operations, and Maintenance Reliability & Integrity to deliver successful projects.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops projects according to a corporate stage gate process
- Provides support for cost and schedule estimates to the Development team to support Front-End Loading activities for Screen stage decision support packages
- Delivers Refine stage decision support packages
- Coordinates resources for engineering, procurement, land-rights acquisition, regulatory permitting, and construction
- Coordinates internal and external engineering and construction resources
- Coordinates with stakeholders to ensure projects are completed in advance of any production requirements
- Develop / maintain cost and schedule estimates / forecasts
- Maintains a working knowledge of and ability to apply engineering specifications, regulations, standards, and permitting requirements
- Communicates project deliverables and recommendations thru written and oral presentations and technical reports
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
- Minimum 5 or more years of experience working in the oil and gas industry; experience in midstream gas processing, project management, operations, and/or maintenance is a significant plus
- Knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and design methods
Skills/Attributes
- Ability to identify industry proven solutions to infrastructure requirements
- Engineering skills necessary for execution of technical and economic feasibility evaluations
- Knowledge of typical project front end deliverables
- Project management skills including ability to organize, plan, and deliver results per a business timeline
- Knowledge of project cost estimating, scheduling, and risk assessment
- Knowledge of equipment specification and procurement
- Ability to apply sound, independent judgment and be decisive to determine a course of action consistent with an established project framework
- Ability to quickly establish credibility and gain support within a new organization
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written), including the ability to develop technical reports and presentations
- Ability to manage external construction services
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, growing organization
- Ability to work effectively under stress and time pressures
