Summary

The Purchaser, General Supply, is accountable for fulfilling demand requirements while maintaining an open channel of communication with operating centers and customers concerning product specifications, order processing, pricing, cost savings, credits, back-orders, and other issues.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review incoming orders for accuracy in terms of materials, pricing, and value
  • Creation of stock-picking tickets
  • Procurement of non-stocked materials
  • Ensuring buy-out materials are received within the allotted time frame
  • Ensuring all orders are processed and completed on a timely basis
  • Assist the Inventory Purchasing department with possible new inventory requirements
  • Assist with picking stock orders from time to time when required
  • Coordinating with the Accounting Department regarding order and/or vendor issues
  • Coordinating with warehouse personnel regarding order accuracy (physical scale) and shipping
  • Emphasizing product/service features and benefits, quoting prices, discussing credit terms, and preparing sales order forms and/or reports
  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer service issues
  • Assisting in day-to-day warehouse operations when required
  • Assist in physical inventory count procedure
  • Correct vendor utilized for the right product at the right price
  • Utilization of in-house inventory
  • Material Master utilized when possible
  • Free text procurement kept to a minimum
  • Participate in after-hour on-call rotation schedule
  • Various other duties as required

 

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of oilfield consumable requirements (drilling, well servicing, snubbing, manufacturing, vendors)

Medium/Strong computer skills are considered an asset

Able to develop excellent customer and vendor relationships

A positive attitude towards customers and co-workers

Strong time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Must be committed to safety and the promotion of a safe work environment

Must be able to work as part of a dynamic team

 

Education

A degree or diploma in a related discipline is considered an asset

 

Experience

Experience in SAP is considered an asset

Previous oilfield supply experience is considered an asset
