Activities

OneTech is looking for an R&D Engineer (post doctorate in private law) in identifying and developing new catalysts for ammonia decomposition and synthesis. Access to an external experimental platform is crucial and will be greatly facilitated by the post-doc.

As an R&D Engineer (post doctorate in private law) your main activities will be as follows:

  • Development and study of the performance of new catalysts and benchmarking with state-of-the-art solutions
  • Identification of potential synergies and establishment of collaboration with industrial partners producing catalysts for the development of formulations
  • Coordination of the use of experimental platforms (formulation and characterization of catalysts) internally and in collaboration with academic partners
  • Identify and suggest new R&D projects with internal and external stakeholders (academic and industrial players)
  • Ensure the meeting of HSE requirements both internally and with external partners concerning new processes that involve hazardous chemical compounds, such as NH₃ (ammonia) and H₂ (hydrogen)
  • Monitor R&D project progress and ensure project milestones and deliverables are met
  • Disseminate and valorize obtained results through project IP management, reporting, internal and external communications

Scope of activities at host laboratory of academic partner:

  • Conduct and coordinate the catalysts’ synthesis and characterization experimental work (physico-chemical, structural characterization and kinetic studies) using the facilities of the experimental platform associated with the laboratory
  • Ensure the meeting of HSE requirements within the laboratory

Scope of activities within TotalEnergies OneTech R&D:

  • Contribute to in-depth research and analysis of new and emerging technologies involving ammonia as hydrogen carrier (synthesis and cracking)
  • Contribute to the identification of technical gaps hampering this sector and propose differentiating ways of improvement using heterogeneous catalysis or other emerging technologies
  • Participate to identification of potential business cases in support to Industrial hub of OneTech and Business unit H2

Context & Environment

To meet its ambitious objectives of the energy transition towards electricity and renewable energies, TotalEnergies‘ entity, OneTech, combines all the corporate departments providing technical support to our operations and R&D (Exploration & Production, Refining & Chemical, Marketing & Services and Gas, Renewables & Power). With a 3,400-strong workforce, OneTech will be split into three hubs: an industrial hub supporting the Company’s expansion in gas, renewables, electricity and carbon emissions reduction; a research & development hub regrouping all TotalEnergies‘ research activities to anticipate the Company’s transformation, by giving priority to the low-carbon mix; and a support hub (HR and finance)

By integrating all the Company’s technical and R&D expertise in a single entity, OneTech becomes one of the pillars of TotalEnergies‘ transformation into a multi-energy company.

TotalEnergies is a global multi-energy company engaged in the production and supply of various forms of energy: oil and biofuels, natural gas and green gases, renewables, and electricity. Its 105,000 employees are committed to providing increasingly affordable, clean, reliable, and accessible energy to a wide audience. Present in over 130 countries, TotalEnergies places sustainability at the core of its projects and operations to contribute to the well-being of communities.
