The position

We are a growing team within Equinor Renewables Americas, established to operate offshore wind farm assets. It is a diverse group of people located mainly across Stamford, CT and New York City. The team is accountable for the performance, integrity, and results of operational assets.

The Regulatory Compliance Director, NERC & FERC is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing FERC and NERC compliance within our organization. The individual filling this role will be responsible for process and design work ahead of Operations as well as oversight as wind farms are in commercial operations. 

By joining our team in Renewables you will have the opportunity to:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of FERC and NERC compliance, ensuring that the organization meets and exceeds the necessary standards and requirements
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintain FERC and NERC compliance policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard the integrity of Equinor US operations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Operations team, ensuring alignment with NERC standards and best practices.
  • Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Coordinate and support the preparation of required NERC compliance reports, documentation, and audits. Ensure timely and accurate submission of all necessary information to regulatory authorities. 
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, regional entities, and industry peers to stay updated on evolving NERC standards, guidelines, and industry trends. Represent the organization in relevant forums and meetings related to NERC compliance. 
  • Lead and participate in incident response and crisis management activities, ensuring prompt and appropriate actions are taken to address any emergencies that may impact reliability.

  • 10+ years of experience in the power industry with a focus on NERC compliance and grid operations.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and driving organizational change.
  • Thorough knowledge of FERC and NERC standards, regulations, and compliance procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Some overnight vessel based offshore travel will be required.
