Description:

ConocoPhillips Canada is looking for a Regulatory Reporting Technician to join our Drilling and Completions team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Wells Analytics & Systems, the successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will be to manage, analyze, and report the regulatory-required data related to drilling, completions, well intervention, and abandonment operations for ConocoPhillips’ Oil Sands and Montney assets. This is a M-F, Calgary office-based role.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed analysis and reporting of provincial regulatory-required data for drilling, completions, well interventions, and abandonment operations.
  • Manage the submission process of operational reports to government agencies through DDS/OneStop and eSubmissions
  • Review and verify the accuracy of reports within ConocoPhillips’ data collection database, Wellview.
  • Collaborate closely with reservoir, drilling, completions, well intervention, and abandonment engineers, including field personnel, to resolve any discrepancies in the data
  • Utilize Wellview to generate operational government reports containing the necessary AER/BCER data.
  • Analyze, update, and maintain internal tracking systems to ensure data integrity and operational insights remain current.
  • Well Licensing with government regulators (AER & BCER)
  • Act as a responsive point of contact for government-related inquiries and requests.
  • Respond to any audits, requests and/or issues from the government regulators.
  • Foster effective communication and coordination between the Wells team, asset teams, production, and WELLS analytics org.
  • Provide knowledge sharing and support on special projects as required.
     

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of drilling, completions & production experience
  • Education: diplomas/certifications pertaining to upstream petroleum industry
  • Demonstrated understanding of Oil Sands (SAGD) and Unconventional (Montney) well operations (drilling, completion, well intervention, and abandonments)
  • Proficient in regulatory reporting requirements for Alberta (AB) and British Columbia (BC), including familiarity with regulatory directives such as AB Directive 59 and 13, and BCER Oil & Gas Operations Manual Chapters 7, 8, and 9.
  • Possesses a proactive work ethic, strong communication skills, and a positive attitude towards challenges.
  • Well organized and detailed oriented
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of effectively resolving complex issues.
  • Collaborative team player capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Thrives in fast-paced team environments, adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Software – WellView, Accumap, Petrinex, AER (DDS & OneStop), BCER (e-Submissions), Spotfire & Microsoft Office 365
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions
