Responsibilities: 
 

  • Serving as the business unit subject-matter-expert (SME) with regards to the requirements and programs to manage the business unit process safety and HSE risks
  • Lead/participate in process hazard assessments (PHA) such as Bowties, HAZOPs, What-Ifs and advise business unit functional departments in proposed actions and mitigation measures
  • Assist business unit functional departments in process design reviews and identification of issues at conceptual stage and serve as the process safety and risk engineering representative on assigned projects
  • Conduct dispersion modeling using commercial and in-house software and tools
  • Facilitate facility siting and detailed quantitative risk assessment studies or oversee third party consultants
  • Supporting the business unit functional departments on process safety, regulatory compliance, development and implementation of Oxy Oil & Gas process safety management program requirements
  • Supporting the development and implementation of tools to analyze process safety related risks and exposures
  • Conducting QC self-audits of business unit’s process safety management program to provide an evaluation of business unit’s efforts to comply with company policies, standards, and procedures
  • Conducting process safety and risk engineering related training for business unit personnel
  • Participating/supporting/leading business unit process safety related incident investigations
  • Supporting the development and implementation of optimal risk mitigation strategies and methodologies
  • Assist in reporting the business unit’s risk inventory and risk profile to Oxy Oil & Gas process safety management

 

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Chemical)
  • 3+ years relevant experience in process safety and risk engineering (preferably in oil and gas operations)
  • Knowledge of Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
  • Knowledge of and experience in OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk
  • Management Plan (RMP) program elements
  • Knowledge of Fire Protection Systems (desired)
  • Knowledge of Facility Siting and Layout Analysis (desired)
  • Knowledge of dispersion modeling (PHAST preferred)
  • Proficient in Process Hazard Analysis Facilitation (PHAPro preferred)
