Senior Contracts Engineer
Contract – 12 Months
Location: Bilbao
 
Responsibilities
 
Working closely with the PMT, the successful candidate will oversee daily contract management for all Contracts, including BOP and DRP EPCM Contracts, which involves:
 

  • Assisting in developing contracting strategies and procurement plans.
  • Preparing ITT packages, coordinating tender processes, evaluating technical bids, and awarding contracts.
  • Managing correspondence and ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
  • Interfacing with Contractors to address contractual issues.
  • Managing Change Order Process, including reviewing and negotiating change requests and resolving disputes.
  • Handling significant capital expenditures and schedule execution pressures.
  • Working independently and with the PMT on contract-related tasks.
  • Providing expert advice on contracts and legal document interpretation.
  • Conducting supplier performance evaluations with other PMT functions, including HSE.
  • Offering timely feedback on contractual matters to avoid misalignments.
  • Supervising all contract activities related to legal, tax, commercial, insurance, and other matters.
  • Applying due diligence in contract management.
  • Monitoring HSE and Quality System Procedures adherence for all contracts.
  • Attending and supporting meetings and audits with stakeholders.
  • Developing and monitoring Commercial/Contractual KPIs.
  • Leading all contract management activities proactively.

 
Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Law from a recognised institution.
  • At least 15 years of contracting experience, with a minimum of 10 years in major infrastructure or oil and gas projects, including business and risk management.
  • Excellent verbal and written English proficiency.
  • Extensive knowledge of contract administration principles and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract law, contract management, financial project management, project controls, and risk management.
  • A proactive attitude towards process improvements.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various work pressures.
  • Willingness to mobilise and work in different locations, primarily in Spain and Sweden, including remote areas such as Boden, Sweden.
