General Description
Senior Drilling Engineer provides, prior to each well, a proper drilling program, with engineering and operational recommendations. He supervises on site the execution of specific jobs and ensures that proper evaluation and reporting on well operations are maintained. Maintains a commitment to
improve the drilling performance.
Responsible for:
- Coordinate with reservoir engineers, geologist & geophysicist to prepare drilling program including adjust the work program and budget of drilling activities as required
- Prepare and handle the assigned Tenders for drilling and drilling services contracts, e.g. prepare & evaluate tenders, and administrate the contracts.
- Responsible to write the initial well AFE and the Drilling Program, in coordination with all the parties involved.
- Establish and maintain drilling guidelines, programs and procedures to be in line with International Standards, and COMPANY’s specifications
- Visit COMPANY’s operating sites to ensure that drilling programs are implemented in accordance with the approved work program, SSHE requirements, and COMPANY’s standard procedures
- Provide advice/ guidance to operational team for possible deviation from the well program
- Investigate the possible implementation of new drilling technology and application for the drilling program and plan. Make recommendation on the new selected alternatives to management
- Contribute to the preparation of well program and annual work program of drilling activities towards the master plan
- Liaise with cross-functional disciplines, i.e. exploration, reservoir and etc. to propose work program of the upcoming year. Recommend the annual budget according to the proposed work program and the selected drilling options
- Monitor the budget execution and update drilling time and cost summary for various drilling/ development options in the database
- Promote the implementation of COMPANY’s SSHE rules and regulations in all works under responsibility
- Prime responsibility to ensure all the drilling data for each well are concisely organized and stored on the dedicated Server.
- Provides the technical analysis of operations issues and the potential solutions to those issues. This is eventually done in collaboration with service companies
Work experience requirements
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in drilling operations with at least 3 years working in Algeria.
- Self-starter with good skills in technical problems solving.
- Capable of coaching drilling engineers
- The candidate should have good relationship with local oilfield Service / Operator Companies in Hassi Messaoud.
- References in Oil Companies (Operators) in Algeria, which can be verified
- Has experience working with land drilling rigs and at least 3 years as Senior Drilling Engineer.
- Prepare and coordinate of well engineering proposals and well AFE
- Aptitude to work in multi-cultural environment.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor Degree (or higher) in engineering in technical or petroleum field.
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Good command of spoken French is preferred.
- Good knowledge of computer standard applications: word processing & spreadsheets
- Good knowledge / understanding of some well engineering applications, i.e StressCheck, Kick Calculations, etc…
