Senior Electrical Engineer – Kurdistan

On behalf of an independent Oil & Gas operator, WRS are looking for a Procurement Team Lead to work in Kurdistan on a contract basis. This will be a 12 month renewable contract, rotating 28/28 into Erbil, paying a day rate in USD.


Overview: 

  • Provide technical assurance for the Brownfield Electrical specific elements within a sour hydrocarbon operating asset. Providing leadership in generating Electrical safety-related recommendations that align with the company risk acceptance criteria and enhance Business value.
  • To support the design of the facilities, specifically from the perspective of the Electrical elements. Including calculations and optimisations for electrical specifications, design criteria and definitions for equipment and bulk material. Additionally for calculation, design, layout and specification of electrical protection and control systems.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Master’s degree or professional membership accreditation (IET) is a plus.

Experience: 

  • Fifteen years’ minimum electrical engineering experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry or similar heavy industry inclusive of no less than five years in a Lead Electrical Engineer role involving electrical systems with up to 11kV.

Skills:

  • Electrical network simulation software – model setup and results interpretation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with implementation of electrical designs in the field environment – e.g. strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with field technicians to develop pragmatic solutions during project execution.
  • Experience with troubleshooting operations faults and working with field personnel to develop and implement pragmatic solutions reflective of the expectations of a Senior Electrical Engineer.
