About the role
Join the Technical Engineering team as our new Senior Electrical Engineer where you will leverage your strategic critical thinking and expertise, providing technical support, aiding in the delivery of fit for purpose design for projects. Balance risk and reward to improve the NPV of the projects during front-end loading (FEL) phases, whilst ensuring compliance with Australian and Santos Standards and the asset Operating Philosophy.
You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering FEL for a portfolio of EAPNG projects to improve project value
enabling access a greater reserve base. Ensuring development project scope adheres to the asset
Operating Philosophy in what it delivers and identifying opportunities to optimise the resource
differently, implementing cost saving initiatives or improving resource recovery strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own Engineering input to prevent scope drift in FEED and Detailed design – fit for purpose design, ensuring compliance with Santos, Australian and international specifications and standards.
- Balances Risk and Reward in design – inherently safe & operable facilities at the lowest lifecycle cost.
- The role is accountable for delivering:
- In-House Concept deliverables
- Risk identification and control in design (HAZID, HAZOP, CHAZOP, LOPA etc.)
- FEED & Detailed Design document reviews
- Project specific specifications (where not covered in Santos standards)
- Project Technical RFI and TQ responses
- Maintaining a fit for purpose development design catalogue improving NPV of development tranches.
- Identify pan EAPNG asset synergies in design and equipment selection.
- Technical authority responsibilities for Electrical discipline.
- Ensures implementation of and compliance to regulatory, industry and company standards and codes for Electrical discipline.
- Actively mentor graduate and junior engineers
- Primarily support the following EAPNG assets: Cooper Basin Onshore, Upstream Coal Seam gas, Papua New Guinea, Major Hazard Facilities on Curtis Island, Moomba and Port Bonython Plants.
- Liaise and collaborate with Santos Principal Engineers and EDMS team:
- Recommend updates of Santos Engineering Standards.
- Work through deviations and waivers from Santos Standards as required.
About you
We are seeking someone with proven business optimisation experience working within a multi-disciplinary team. A demonstrated self-starter who enjoys working in a fast paced, agile environment, and is meticulous about taking their work from concept to implementation.
Essential experience required for this position includes:
- 15+ years’ experience in oil and gas or similar industry.
- Minimum 5-7 years as a practicing engineer in Oil and Gas Upstream or Processing facilities, practicing in the Electrical discipline.
- Familiar with relevant Australian and Industrial standards as applicable to Oil and Gas industry
- Chartered Engineer and RPEQ certification required.
Technical competencies for this position:
- Consistent with Santos Technical Authority Level 2 (TA2) as minimum.
- Familiar with Project Management processes and practices preferred.
