About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Senior Financial Analyst – Financial Reporting to join the Santos team. Based at our Global Headquarters in Adelaide and reporting to the Finance Manager, this key position will assist the Financial Reporting team with the provision of timely, reliable and relevant accounting technical information to assist with the management of group activities and meeting the Group’s obligations relating to external financial statutory reporting for the Group and at a subsidiary level.
This incorporates monitoring developments in accounting policies and standards and for providing accounting-based training programs and finance systems support, to ensure achievement of the Company’s strategy and shareholder value.
Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Assistance with the preparation and review of the Santos Group Financial Statements for the half-year and year-end reporting periods, ensuring compliance with the most recent disclosure requirements under accounting standards and other statutory or regulatory requirements.
- Co-ordination and control of the annual subsidiary financial statements process.
- Key liaison with external auditors for both the Group and subsidiary financial statement process.
- Participate in the Group entity management committee and facilitate the processes for intercompany dividends, recapitalisations, investment and intercompany impairments
- Maintain SAP entity structure including new entities and liquidated entities and ensuring the correct roll-up of entities for Group reporting purposes and sub-group level consolidations
- Coordinate internal control environment attestation process and actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement and with a particular focus on the key finance internal controls
About You
It is expected that applicants will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, as well Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, or CPA Australia, or equivalent. In addition, you will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Sound technical knowledge of Corporation Law, Accounting Standards and other relevant statutory reporting requirements.
- Proven experience in researching Accounting Pronouncements – you should be able to demonstrate the ability to assess the impact of accounting pronouncements
- Professional experience in Accounting with a Chartered Accounting firm or accounting section of a large corporate organisation, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry
