Introduction

ND Western Limited, an indigenous Oil and Gas Company is seeking skilled and knowledgeable Associate geologist in hydrocarbon exploration and production. As an Associate geologist, the candidate will play a crucial role in the exploration and production of oil and gas reserves in our acreage. Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Conduct a thorough analysis of geological data, including well logs, seismic data, ditch cuttings and core samples, to evaluate the potential for hydrocarbon reserves in specific areas or prospects.
  • Interpret simple and complex subsurface data sets to identify optimal drilling locations and potentially prospective reservoirs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop exploratory strategies and plans.
  • Conduct detailed reservoir characterization studies to estimate size, fluid properties and production potential.
  • Generate accurate geological maps, cross sections, and static model to aid in decision making and resource estimation.
  • Participate in field visits to collect data and samples for analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with HSC regulations throughout all geological field operations.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing geological findings and recommendations for management and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in geological exploration techniques, tools, and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy in analysis and interpretation.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of petroleum geology principles, including sedimentary processes, structural geology, and reservoir characterization.
  • Proficiency in using geological software and tools (Geographics, Kingdom, Decision space, Petrel, etc.)
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to evaluate simple and complex geological information accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with professionals from different backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions based on limited date or uncertain conditions.
  • Attention to details and strong organizational skills to manage and analyze large data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, to effectively convey geological information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to travel to remote locations and work in challenging environments if required.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in petroleum exploration and production.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing petroleum exploration and production in Nigeria.
  • Soft skills in Microsoft Office.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology or related fields with a Master’s degree as an added advantage. Candidates with lower than Second class upper in the first degree will not be considered.
  • 8 years of working experience as a geologist in the petroleum industry.
  • Strong fieldwork experience could be an advantage.
