Job Title: Senior GIS Specialist – Onshore Pipelines

About the Role:
We are currently seeking a Senior GIS Specialist to join a dynamic project delivery team in Brentford. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile onshore pipeline projects, delivering engineering services across the oil and gas sector.
Role Overview:
As a Senior GIS Specialist, you will be an integral part of a team responsible for delivering comprehensive GIS services to support the design and execution of onshore pipeline projects. This role will require your expertise in geospatial data management, analysis, and presentation, utilising advanced GIS tools to develop deliverables that meet client needs and project requirements. You will also work closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders, providing technical guidance and problem-solving solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Management & Manipulation: Efficiently manage and manipulate large volumes of geospatial data to support pipeline project requirements.
- Pipeline Design Support: Assist in preparing both conceptual and detailed designs for onshore pipeline projects.
- GIS Deliverables: Produce high-quality GIS-derived deliverables, including maps, alignment sheets, and reports, tailored to project needs.
- Technical Support: Provide technical GIS expertise and support to the broader project team.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot geospatial and technical issues, developing innovative solutions.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and successful project outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS or a related field.
Technical Expertise:
- Experience in the GIS industry, with proven skills in geospatial data analysis, interpretation, and presentation.
- Proficiency with ESRI software for geospatial data manipulation and analysis (preferred).
- Ability to convert text-based data into accurate geospatial formats.
- Advanced understanding of geospatial issues and techniques to acquire, manage, and present data.
- Experience working in an Enterprise GIS environment with demonstrated ability to apply GIS data for large-scale projects.
- Python skills: Proficient in extending and utilising existing Python scripts to automate geospatial tasks.
- Experience managing large raster datasets and using ESRI’s Spatial Analyst tools to solve real-world problems.
- Familiarity with GIS-based automated drawing production (e.g., pipeline alignment sheets using BlueSky Lightning or New Century Software’s SheetCutter is a plus).
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical details of pipeline projects (e.g., crossing designs, right-of-way set out, minimum bend radius) and convert them into GIS deliverables.
Client & Team Collaboration:
- Strong skills in delivering high-quality, client-focused services, ensuring effective communication, consultation, and negotiation with project teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Other Skills:
- Knowledge of spatial and web development technologies is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in onshore pipeline projects is essential.
