My client is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instrumentation Design Engineer to join their team for an exciting, medium-sized project with one of their valued clients. This role is pivotal to the successful execution of the project and involves both field engineering and design activities. The selected engineer will be working closely with the client on-site in Dordrecht for an initial period of 5 months, with the possibility of extending the contract based on project needs and performance. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant project while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
The chosen candidate must have a background in Petrochemical, Hydrogen and Refinery projects.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a proactive, solution-oriented mindset, consistently seeking ways to overcome challenges and optimise project outcomes. The ideal candidate will not only address issues as they arise but also anticipate potential obstacles and devise effective strategies to mitigate them.
- Take full ownership of the assigned project scope, including ensuring that all deliverables are met within the agreed-upon budget and schedule. This responsibility includes managing resources effectively, coordinating with various stakeholders, and making critical decisions that drive the project forward.
- The role requires a high degree of autonomy, where the engineer will work independently while maintaining open lines of communication with both the client and the project engineer. Regular reporting on progress, risks, and opportunities will be essential to keep all parties aligned and informed.
- Engage in close coordination with the maintenance organisation to ensure that the design and implementation of instrumentation systems are aligned with maintenance strategies and practices. This collaboration will help to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency of the systems being developed.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience in identifying and designing the migration of Distributed Control Systems (DCS). The candidate should have a deep understanding of the complexities involved in such migrations and be capable of developing innovative solutions to ensure seamless transitions with minimal disruption to operations.
- A minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in Instrumentation and Control Systems (ICS) engineering and design is required. This experience should include a strong background in the engineering principles and practical applications of ICS in various industrial settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing instrumentation scope during the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design phases of projects. The candidate should be capable of contributing significantly to the early stages of project development, ensuring that all instrumentation requirements are accurately defined and fully integrated into the overall project design.
- Proven experience in drafting and defining FEED scope documentation. The ideal candidate will be skilled in creating clear, comprehensive, and technically sound scope definitions that serve as a solid foundation for project execution.
- Fluency in Dutch is essential for effective communication with the client and other stakeholders on-site. The ability to converse, read, and write in Dutch at a professional level is mandatory.
- The candidate must be available to start in mid-September, aligning with the project’s timeline and ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
