Midland Basin Overview
ConocoPhillips holds approximately 372,000 total net acres in the Midland Basin, which includes approximately 248,000 unconventional net acres located in the heart of west Texas. The company operates over 2,800 producing wells across Midland, Upton, Andrews, Martin and Glasscock counties.
In 2023, the company operated five drilling rigs on average, including two electric rigs. Net production in 2023 averaged 182 MBOED and 106 operated wells were brought online.

Description
If you are selected for the Senior Land Technician position, you will partner with the Permian Land organization to support and drive various strategic objectives. In this role you will be a subject matter expert as a Land Technician for several Land systems as well as processes and procedures. You will be assigned higher-level tasks and projects assisting with Land initiatives and support. You may collaborate with internal stakeholders across various functions, as well as with industry business associates, including but not limited to Operators and interest owners.
You may be eligible for the voluntary hybrid office work (HOW) program that is designed to provide employees with flexibility while maintaining the advantages of in-person engagement.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Complete projects targeted to experience level, work with mentor and other Land staff, and present the results to Lower 48 Land Management
- Work in collaboration with Land Negotiators and Land Analysts in a dynamic environment to accomplish shared goals and objectives
- Build and maintain network relationships with other groups within company, i.e., Asset Teams, Legal, Accounting, Tax, Production, and Audit
- Create various reports from Quorum or parallel systems
- Create various reports from Business Objects pertaining to critical contracts
- Handle payments due to interest owners, review and code invoices, and process vendor payments
- Manage delivery and receipt of operated or non-operated ballots
- Process related contracts to Real Property Administration
- Track and report on Key Performance Indicators related to Permian Land business performance
- Lead and support Permian Land initiatives like Record Organization programs, new hire onboarding, Title AFE maintenance and recommendations, data and ballot management
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word
- Beginner knowledge of oil and gas Land and financial systems, i.e. Quorum, ArcMap, Generwell, SAP, etc
Preferred:
- Associate degree or higher in Business, related business field or other technical related field or foreign equivalent
- 3 or more years of experience in a Land Technician or similar role within the Oil and Gas industry
- Able to work in a team environment
- Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented, thorough, and efficient
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
- Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
- Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
