What you’ll do:

Santos is looking for a Senior Project Engineer based in Brisbane to take responsibility for managing a variety of Santos projects primarily within our Restoration and Abandonment portfolio, ensuring they are delivered on budget, on schedule and in an environmental and safe manner.

  • We are looking for motivated candidates with strong technical foundation and solid understanding of the oil and gas value chain. Specific experience with asset abandonment is preferred however not essential.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Manage projects and deliverables in support of business objectives.
  • Steward 5 yearly abandonment plan and deliverables required under the Santos Safety Management System.
  • Steward cost and schedule commitments against budget.
  • Deliver project objectives utilising a structured gating process.
  • Drive continuous improvement in compliance, production loss and cost metrics through targeted improvement initiatives.
  • Point of contact and escalation point for projects from a field execution perspective.
  • Drive improvement in project compliance, production loss and cost metrics through targeted improvement initiatives.
  • Manage engineers, consultants, suppliers, contractors to ensure activities are delivered to scope and intended quality.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate all forms of program and project risk.

What you’ll bring: 

Holding a Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Registered Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer status, this role requires someone with a delivery mindset and strong work ethic, along with:

  • Strong understanding of program and project management principles and demonstrated experience of quality, risk and cost management in a project environment.
  • Strong commercial / financial understanding and mindset.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and influential skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilient in managing multiple dynamic and multi-disciplinary project activities.

Whilst not essential, previous experience within the Oil & Gas industry will ensure a solid understanding of industry standards and best practice.
