Job Description:

Our client, a reputable international mining group with operations across Africa, is seeking a skilled Senior Resources Geologist to join their team in West Africa. This role involves managing mineral resource estimations, resource reporting, grade control model reviews, block model audits, and database oversight.

Reporting to: Mine Director & Group Resources and Geology Director

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct reliable mineral resource estimations using industry-standard techniques and software, adhering to international standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
  • Prepare comprehensive resource reports in compliance with regulatory and company requirements, collaborating with technical teams for accurate and timely delivery.
  • Analyse and review grade control models to ensure alignment with operational goals, recommending improvements for optimized resource utilization.
  • Review and validate block model parameters, performing audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Manage and maintain geological databases, implementing robust QAQC protocols and conducting regular data audits.
  • Leverage Leapfrog and other software for geological modelling, while training and mentoring team members on their effective use.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mine planning and operations, providing technical guidance and leadership.
  • Support junior geologists through mentoring and knowledge-sharing to enhance team capabilities.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in resource geology, with expertise in mineral resource estimations and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Leapfrog software for geological modelling and resource estimation.
  • Ability to speak French & English
  • Strong understanding of geological database management and QAQC processes.
