Alaska Overview
ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc. is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2023. The company produced an average of 195 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOED) in 2023. ConocoPhillips Alaska holds major ownership interests in two of North America’s largest legacy equivalent per day conventional oil fields, both located on Alaska’s North Slope: Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips Alaska owns and operates several fields on the Western North Slope. The company also has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System and owns and operates the Polar Tankers fleet.
Job Description
The Sourcing and Contract Specialist will have direct responsibility for a variety of assigned Wells & Exploration contracts, from strategy development through origination, administration, and closeout. The Sourcing and Contract Specialist will provide specific oversight of sourcing and contracting needs through the various project stage gates.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Lead project specific sourcing and contracting efforts to develop contracting strategies for execution and FEL gate assurance
- Perform contracting activities – reviewing, proposing revisions, and implementing agreements using standard documents and contracting procedures
- Effectively work with BU Partners and Stakeholders, Supply Chain Staff, Project Controls, Quality, HSE, Legal, and other relevant internal resources
- Contract authoring utilizing Company contract tools—managing language changes through functional review and required approval processes
- Analyze suitability of potential Contractors in accordance with Company and Specific Contractor qualification criterion
- Gather market and Contractor information through market intelligence and RFIs
- Implement contract services in a timely and cost-efficient manner within established company policies, procedures and standards, including CPMS
- Build and execute negotiation strategies that are win – win to ensure all business objectives are accomplished
- Coordinate formal RFX for contract requirements. Performs pre-bid and preaward meetings. Analyzes suitability of bids dependent on time constraints, cost and quality assurance. Prepares bid evaluations and seeks appropriate approvals of awards
- Supplier Performance Management – Ongoing support of the Contract Management Plans and KPI’s. Handling change management and resolution of any claims
- Participate on the Incident Management Team as required and attend IMT Trainings and annual exercises
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain, Business or related field or foreign equivalent
- 3 or more years supply chain contracting experience
Preferred:
- 5 or more years supply chain contracting experience
- 1 or more years of experience with Spotfire or similar type data analytical system
- Advanced level of proficiency of organizational skills in document management and administration
- Intermediate level of proficiency in contract drafting
- Intermediate level of proficiency in negotiation skills & ability to effectively apply analytical tools, concepts and methods
- Intermediate level of knowledge of COP procurement systems (SAP and SMART by GEP)
- Intermediate level of knowledge of project management fundamentals
- Intermediate level of knowledge of commercial terms and conditions
- Ability to develop innovative commercial models focused on supplier delivery
- Ability to balance large number of contracts in various stages of development in both larger and smaller/local tier
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
- Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
- Listens actively and invites new ideas for shared understanding, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
