About the Job

  • The candidate will be part of the Business Development & Strategy team, with a particular focus on assisting the Business Development efforts in shipping
  • As part of the team he will collaborate with other team members and liase with L&S Business Units, Finance, Commercial department but also external stakeholders, clients etc
  • Analyse business data to assess performance of business lines. To enable business units to monitor their performance. Increase data availability through gathering multiple sources and ensure data quality. Diagnose business performance issues through data analysis of business operations generated data and recommend corrective measures and support BU’s during the implementation phase.
  • Provide support for strategic and operational planning through Data analysis of historical business transactional data, market trends and develop factual business scenarios for senior management decision making.

Key Accountabilities

  • Financial analysis & modelling of investments in shipping and offshore
  • Market research; independently assessing & formulating market views on the relevant shipping & commodities markets
  • Independently creating professional presentations of investment proposals to senior management
  • Collaborating with internal & external stakeholders and guiding projects through the approval processes to fruition
  • Evaluate M&A opportunities, Joint Ventures, partnerships within the core activities of company L&S
  • Assist in developing new business opportunities and client relationships
  • Development of dashboards and business reports for the organization: Support the business intelligence team of ITD in developing and maintaining the right dashboards and business performance reports.
  • Decision making support: coordinate with different BU and governmental agencies in gathering data and information that relate to our business and ensure data quality.
  • Collaborate with all business units in company L&S and commercial, Operations, Asset Integrity, Legal, Finance and HSE to develop Initiatives.
  • Continuously conduct macro, trends, market, competitor, and business development analysis; develop financial models to assess the viability of various business cases.
  • Follow up with Business Units management on status and issues related to Business Support studies and support businesses in implementing recommendations/corrective actions and gather any new requirement to improve business performance issues.
  • Work with Policy, BPR, Business Development and Market research team and provide support in data analysis and development of mathematical models and creation of the business scenarios.
  • Recommend policy / procedure / systemic interventions, wherever necessary and provide insights drawn out of actual and real time data for formulation of right policy.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s in Business Economics/ Mathematics is must, MBA is preferable. Very strong and proven high level analytical and mathematical/statistical skills essential

Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills

 

  • Shipping background is a must; a blend of commercial and investments/financial experience is preferred
  • 5+ years of work experience underwriting shipping investments at an asset manager/ financial institution/ shipowner
  • Advanced Excel user; Experience in independently analyzing deals for shipping and offshore asset acquisitions/divestments
  • Advanced Powerpoint user; Experience in creating high caliber investor & senior management presentations
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques, modelling, research design and analysis is a must.
  • Knowledge of SAS or any statistical software is an advantage.
  • Training/presentation and communication skills.
  •  Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Arabic would be advantageous.
