Job Summary

Description

This Senior Data Engineer role within Applied Digital Technology in ConocoPhillips will be responsible for building data and machine learning model pipelines from source systems into the analytics environment with validation to allow creation and operations of machine learning models and pipelines. The role will also monitor, optimize, and support the development, test and production environments working closely with the database administrators, system architects, and IT infrastructure support to ensure system availability. This role requires a strong and current technology focus, practical analytical experience, and excellent written and communications skills.

If you are selected as the Data Engineer, you will need to be proficient at integrating and preparing large, varied datasets including time series data and designing specialized database tables within the environment. You will work closely with engineers, data scientists, geo-scientists, project/program managers, and IT teams to provide clean and reliable data.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Develop, test, and manage data pipelines
• Collect, explore, validate, and condition data
• Collaborate with business subject matter experts and data scientists to create data sets and engineer features for analytical models
• Productionize and operationalize analytical models
• Adhere to ConocoPhillips’ governance and compliance policies for data and processes
• Monitor model performance

Basic/Required:

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems/Science, Mathematics, Statistics, other related business field, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
• 10+ years of IT or programming experience
• 5+ years of experience in a programming language
• 3 + years of experience with data visualization/analytics tools and Excel
• 3 + years of experience with SQL
• 3+ years of experience with handling large amount of operational data and/or creating ETL/ELT pipelines
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and source control
• 1+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates)

Preferred:

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems/Science, Mathematics, Statistics, other related business field, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent
• 5 + years of experience with Python
• 5 + years of experience writing Snowflake SQL
• 3 + years of experience with Terraform, or CDK
• 5 + years of experience using git
• 3 + years of experience with Spotfire, PowerBI, or Streamlit
• 3 + years of experience with Parallel/Distributed computing, (e.g. Spark, Dask, Ray, …)
• 3 + years of experience with Oil & Gas time series data feeds in combination with historical and unstructured data
• 5 + years of experience with Oil & Gas industry
• 1 + years of experience with project management
• 3 + years of experience with data virtualization
• 3 + years of experience in deploying Machine Learning based applications and/or pipelines
• 3 + years of experience using Bash shell scripting
• 3 + years of experience using Linux/Unix systems
• Intermediate knowledge of Mlflow or other MLOps platform
• Intermediate level of understanding of agile processes and methodology to support project management initiatives and delivery
• Efficient verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and persuasively
• Efficient interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork and communications
• Open attitude towards and ability to learn and utilize new technologies and standards
• Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
