Description
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Sr. Safety Engineer within our Glenn Springs Holdings, Inc. group based in Houston, TX.
Essential Job Duties:
- Review and oversee site-level Health and Safety Plans and Emergency Response Plans, implementations and performance.
- Conduct regular site visits to sites located in different states of the U.S., perform Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBS), inspections, and provide feedback to workers.
- Conduct safety meetings with field workers, provide training on safety topics to contractor personnel.
- Work in direct interaction with contractors developing safety improvement opportunities to drive contractor’s performance.
- Oversee and assist demolition work, and the essentials of a demolition health and safety operation. This involves identifying potential hazards such as asbestos, lead-based paint, structural instability, and airborne contaminants, among others.
- Support waste management and water treatment systems for groundwater remediation projects.
- Help with the field implementation of procedures and standards, and the development of best practices.
- Participate in on-site HSE audits as safety lead. Assist audit leader with coordination of audits.
- Support incident investigations, contractor reviews, and incident recordkeeping and case management through different company systems (Tap Root, Avetta, Intelex, etc).
- Communicate regularly with HSE Director to ensure expectations on HSE program are met.
Qualifications
- BS degree or equivalent qualification in safety, environmental science or related field; advanced degree and professional license(s) like CSP is preferred.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Direct experience in implementation of health & safety programs with contractors.
- Direct experience using data analytics tools.
- Teamwork and leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to varied audiences.
- Self-motivated; ability to work independently to achieve objectives while handling multiple tasks and challenging deadlines.
This position may be located in Houston, TX, Dallas, TX or New Brunswick, NJ. Relocation is offered with this role. Occidental does not offer sponsorship of employment-based nonimmigrant visa petitions for this role.
