Permian Overview
ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. The transformational acquisitions of Concho Resources Inc. and Shell Enterprises LLC’s prolific positions in the Delaware and Midland Basins in 2021 further strengthened the company’s position in the Permian Basin. At year-end 2023, the company held approximately 1 million total net acres in the Permian Basin.
During 2023, net production averaged 719 MBOED.
Description
The Permian Integrated Operations (IO) organization is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for the position of Staff Production Engineering Advisor. This position provides key technical domain and leadership inside the IO organization to ensure workflows and continuous improvement efforts deliver the business functionality and value expected. This position reports to the Permian IO Production Technology Manager and will work directly with key Permian partners across functional boundaries.
If you are selected to be the Staff Production Engineering Advisor, you will have key responsibilities focusing on operational workflows, and supporting processes. Our vision for the Permian IO Team is to integrate people, process, and technology to deliver exceptional business value. The team works with all functions within the Permian to build smart processes and workflows in support of asset goals.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Support Quarterly LOE Meeting by compiling information for Score Card reporting of performance versus target for production, cost and environmental performance KPIs
- Aid in the Curation of GL Designs with GL Team via SNAP and XSPOC. Additionally, be part of an advisory AL team that analyses 1st Artificial Lift selection as well as provide guidance in transitional points throughout the life of the well
- Provide upstream oil and gas expertise, along with data/software technical insight, for all program initiatives to ensure close alignment with business priorities and deliver results
- Work efficiently with multiple partners including Operations, Delaware Operation Center (DOC), Engineering, Maintenance, Measurement, Capital Projects, Development, Land, Legal, Commercial, HSE, PRA, and others
- Proactively identify workflow and/or continuous improvement opportunities
- Complete feasibility assessments for potential projects and manage requirements definition, implementation, testing, and delivery of projects that are selected
- Facilitate interactions between IO technical teams and business users as needed in support of program projects/initiatives
- Interact within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver the PB asset production and cost goals, collaborating closely with Operations, Well Intervention & Integrity, Base Facilities, and Reservoir groups
- Participate in vendor reviews of artificial lift and downhole equipment, provide technical consult to supply chain
- Evaluate and apply advancements in available technologies and services to improve performance
- Mentor team members, and curate PB Production Engineering technical training offerings
- Mentor and guide for functional excellence on well interventions procedures as necessary across Permian
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, other related engineering field or foreign equivalent
- 10 or more years of experience in upstream oil and gas
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 25% of the time on a yearly basis
Preferred:
- 7 or more years of Permian experience
- 5 or more years of experience with project development and execution
- Pervious experience with rod pump and gas lift & design/optimization
- Ability to work as part of a large multi-functional team
- Efficient business judgment, ability to efficiently discern business priorities
- Efficient written and verbal communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Strong skills and competency in SNAP, Rodstar,SROD, XSPOC, Wellview, CYGNET, Spotfire and MS Office Suite
- Must have a strong commitment to safety and promoting safe work practices
- Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals
