Description:
 

ConocoPhillips is currently looking for a Supervisor, Minor Modifications, to join our Operations Support & Optimization team. Reporting to the Manager, Operations Support & Optimization, the Supervisor, Minor Modifications is responsible for delivering the annual program of minor modifications projects and the more complex maintenance activities as a partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams and in close collaboration with the CMT as necessary for execution in the Field, to deliver most value through efficient and lowest cost solutions.  Projects will typically be valued at <$5MM depending on complexity.

The Minor Modifications team interfaces with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Capital Projects, and Development organizations to provide project engineering, costing, planning, facilitation, work-packing, and associated third-party resource management to deliver minor modification projects for field execution.  The implementation team will coordinate execution of planned activities in the field through Capital Projects Construction Management Team, leveraging shared field contractor resources where possible.  The Minor Modifications team will provide implementation planning expertise to Maintenance, Ops Technology, Development, and Wells functions for minor modification projects such that senior technical staff can remain focused on technical requirements and SME support.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Petro-Technical and Business Professionals with aggregate staff of up to 20 (~10 employees, ~10 contractors), annual direct expense budget of ~$25MM CAD and ~$50MM CAD capital. 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an annual program of operating expense and capital minor modifications projects.
  • Budget setting and forecasting, and cost management for project portfolio
  • Project management for minor modifications driven by Engineering Management of Change (Up to 500 MOC’s/year)
  • Leveraging the Engineering team for technical solutions, and Capital Projects or Maintenance for execution of modifications
  • Champion the Minor Modifications Project Management System and the application of embedded processes to ensure delivery of all minor mods projects.
  • Mentor technical staff as Project Management SME in Operations Support
  • Develop and implement 3rd party engineering contracting strategies. 
  • Develop and implement framework for 3rd party engineering contract management.
  • Maintain Business Unit wide process for minor modifications project management and workpack development to ensure consistency of project delivery in Canada.
  • Leverage integrated planning and activity management processes to ensure highest priorities are appropriately progressed and delivered based on value and risk management programs.
  • Explore alternative execution technologies and coordinate trials (Rope access, unmanned, autonomous, digital) by leveraging resources in Operations technology and Maintenance / integrity teams.
     

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Senior level project and program leadership capability
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and develop people in technical areas of expertise and within projects.
  • Previous Leadership experience and proven execution in complex asset operations / development
  • Familiar with design codes and standards (ASME, CSA, ABSA, ERCB, etc.)
  • Experience applying Decision and Risk Analysis
  • Change and Technology Leadership experience.
  • Process and Operating safety knowledge
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions.
