We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Supply Chain Specialist at our corporate office located in Ludington, MI.

This position’s primary job function is to lead on site rail car repairs, oversee 3rd party daily operations & packaging suppliers, and to coordinate the maintenance & capital of supply chain assets.

The Supply Chain Specialist will ensure that railcar repairs are timely, effective and efficient, resolve daily 3rd party operating issues, ensure our packaging supplies are available and cost optimized, and will ensure our supply chain assets are maintained and have an aligned long term capital plan. This role works closely with site logistics, demand chain planning, Dallas railcar fleet maintenance and site order scheduling and reports to the Calcium Chloride Supply Chain Manager.  

This position is not eligible for the Alternative Work Schedule.
                                                                                                                                                                               

Essential Functions

Functions that must be performed in order to fulfill Primary Function:

Lead the timely, effective, & efficient resolution for all rail cars requiring site review and site repair.

·    Coordinates site work with on-site rail maintenance provider and logistics to ensure timely, effective and efficient repair of local railcar repairs for all stake holders.

·     Leads and coordinates the dispensation of railcars that require Dallas review for potential shop, scrap, or site repairs including projects that require modifications such as re-stenciling or end of life cars.

·         Serves as focal point for technical resolution with Dallas for car modifications and/or AAR 4-2 submissions.

·         Performs OTMA transactions in coordination with Dallas and site logistics.

·         Ensures on-site rail maintenance provider workload visibility and on-site rail maintenance provider schedule is consistent with Oxy priorities.

·         Coordinates on-site rail maintenance provider site support necessary to perform as a best-in-class onsite repair operation.

·         Measures on-site rail maintenance provider effectiveness and efficiency and progress toward long term objectives.

·         Requisitions large volume purchase items like gates, wheels, and bolsters.

 

Oversees 3rd party Operations & packaging supplies.  

·  Focal point for operating issues for Lemont-IMTT, Bay City, and Burns Harbor, Panther, Cal-Chlor Ludington/New Brunswick, barge mechanical operating issues, & on-site rail maintenance provider

·  Oversee and coordinates changes required of suppliers.  Leads projects including those requiring AFE’s, MOC’s and other supply chain support.  

·  Facilitates materials/packaging design changes with stakeholders including Dallas HESS, Prod Reg Affairs, commercial, production and suppliers to optimize roll outs and minimize waste.   Typical changes include new private label packaging or new customer service requirements, or a change to Oxy packaging.

·  Participates and/or leads in collaboration with Dallas supplier evaluation and qualification for new vendors or changes for pallets, bags, pails, slip sheets, shrouds and FIBC’s.

· Coordinates supplier capacity by providing visibility to Oxy volume, obtaining supplier capacities, resolving gaps, and performing annual (or as needed) operational reviews.

·         Ensures and/or performs physical inventories requirements at 3rd party locations.

·         Coordinates returns of raw materials that fail inspections.

·         Monitors and measures supplier performance.

·         Approve & code invoices in SAP.   Maintain current price sheets on server.

·         Facilitates corrective actions for customer complaints (Corrective Action Requests).

 Coordinates routine Maintenance and Capital for supply chain assets:

·Facilitates routine maintenance and capital for Spartan, Bay City, and New Brunswick and ensures & documents short-term & long-term plans to operate to meet business requirements.  Log maintenance approvals for future reference for invoices.

·Develops and facilitates plan for annual winter lay-up and 5-year certification requirements for the Spartan barge/tug.

·Coordinates support for barge (Spartan/Deegan) repairs on site and serves as a liaison between barge operators and site operators.

·         Performs fuel log at beginning and end of year as input to final invoicing for Deegan. 

·         Ensures all operating repairs are coordinated with planning and return to operations are visible.

·         Perform annual fixed asset review to ensure a current and accurate Fixed Asset register.

 

Other:

·         Serves as a team member on the supply chain team.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Actively support plant and corporate HESS safety programs, objectives, and expectations.

  • Follows the Ludington Guiding Principles.

  • Supports the Food Safety Program and Quality Program. Adheres to FDA requirements.

Qualifications

 

Education/Certification Requirements

Pre-employment Requirement

·         Bachelor’s Degree

·         Basic computer skills.

 

Additional Desired Qualifications 

·    Strong mechanical aptitude or maintenance experience associated with railcars, terminal operations, bagging or barge equipment.

·     Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP.

·     Successful experiences building supplier relationships.

Post-employment Requirement

·         Maintain current Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC)

Ability to quickly analyze situations, determine cost effective measures to address the issues, and then implement actions necessary to address the concern.
