Tax Senior Manager – Renewables

We are looking for a Tax Senior Manager – Renewables to join our tax team on a permanent basis.

This role reports into the Seaway7 Head of Tax (Oslo) and is open to applicants who are interested in joining one of our offices in Norway (Stavanger, Oslo), UK (Aberdeen, London) or Netherlands (Zoetermeer).

While the primary focus of the role is the pro-active management of the Renewables business’ tax compliance and reporting obligations, the successful candidate will also be expected to support Seaway7 and the wider Subsea7 Group in the delivery of tax efficiency and planning initiatives.

The role currently has one direct report (compliance and reporting) who is based in Oslo.

Candidates will have a proven track record of delivering on compliance and reporting.  A background in Norwegian corporate tax is required.  Strong communication skills and a “can do” attitude, together with a solid grasp on accounting principles, and a good knowledge of international tax principles, are strongly desirable.

Some travel to meet with key management in other offices will be required.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing Compliance and Reporting deliverables for Seaway7 including:
  • In-house preparation of ~20 Norwegian corporate tax computations and returns, including returns for companies falling within the Norwegian tonnage tax regime
  • Liaising with Seaway7 finance and overseas external advisers to ensure international tax compliance obligations are met (including Taiwan, Germany, Netherlands)
  • Quarterly and year end reporting tax packs under IFRS and associated deliverables
  • Tax disclosures for statutory accounting purposes
  • Improving internal processes and controls
  • Managing transfer pricing obligations, compliance and documentation for Seaway7
  • Supporting on tax enquiries and tax audits, and ensuring that all dealings with tax authorities are conducted in an open and professional manner
  • Identifying compliance obligations and potential tax risks arising from business operations, and implementation of appropriate responses and risk mitigation strategies
  • Collaborating with legal and finance teams on specific projects, including financing, cash repatriation, acquisitions and disposals
  • Provide clear, practical and business focussed advice
  • Technical development of more junior team members / members of the wider tax team

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Professional tax qualification / accounting qualification required
  • Post qualification experience working in an accounting practice, or, ideally, in a relevant industry role
  • Experience of leading or developing a team
  • Knowledge of the shipping industry and Norwegian and/or European tonnage tax regimes
  • A general tax background encompassing knowledge of indirect and personnel tax principles would beneficial

  • Will be a self-starter, willing to work autonomously to meet deadlines, take ownership of deliverables and drive these to completion.
  • A clear and effective communicator, with high professional standards and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple jurisdictions and from a range of cultures.
  • Candidates must be fluent in Norwegian and English (written and spoken).
