ExxonMobil’s state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play on our team

 

The Teen Engineering and Tech Center (TETC) Learning Manager will develop, maintain and lead strong implementation of a makerspace model and career pathways program that can be replicated across multiple ExxonMobil Foundation run TETC locations. At the core of our TETC work is the desire to meaningfully increase the number of teens from under-served communities with an interest in engineering and the basic math and science skills necessary to pursue an engineering degree and, ultimately, a career at ExxonMobil. Our first two TETC locations opened in Fall 2024 with plans for expansion across the US and globally. 

 

  • As part of this model, you will develop, maintain and lead strong implementation of our engineering focused curriculum across all TETC locations. This role with partner closely with key stakeholders, to support this curriculum work, ensuring learning is hands-on, highly engaging, builds on learning as students continue in the program and excites them to embark on a pathway to a career in engineering while building their STEM content knowledge and skills
  • This role is responsible for the planning, organizing, administration and operations of all makerspaces at multiple TETC locations, including the training, development and coaching for all coaches. 
  • Positions will be located in Spring, Texas

What you will do

 

  • Collaborate with external partners and internal team members to create and maintain an outstanding engineering-focused makerspace model aligned to engineering education standards, including a comprehensive curriculum, inclusive of STEM and college and career readiness, and blueprint for replicating curriculum with fidelity across multiples sites
  • Identify and develop training and professional development opportunities to ensure makerspace coaches are expert users of makerspace equipment and curriculum
  • Support and promote teaching and learning in emerging technologies with an emphasis on engineering design principles 
  • Model a culture that is welcome to a diverse group of users
  • Design, implement and maintain makerspace usage model, including systems to monitor inventory of supplies/consumables for regular replenishment
  • Collaborate with site leadership to capture curriculum and instructional best practices to support curriculum model  
  • Develop and implement safety processes to ensure student safety is at the core of our work
  • Build and maintain relationships with students, staff and community partners
  • Monitor student academic progress and outcomes

About you

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Demonstrated competency and knowledge in curriculum development and implementation tied to strong student outcomes 
  • Deep knowledge of and experience in delivering best practices in teacher coaching, training and support
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to multicultural, socioeconomic, and regional differences among students and adults from diverse backgrounds 
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Skilled in developing and facilitating collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams to successful outcomes 
  • Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Passion for implementing innovative training programs that encourage student learning
  • Excellent oral/written communication and customer service skills
  • Experience presenting to diverse audiences and strong presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in project management

 

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

 

  • 7+ years of experience in education and or education youth focused non-profit work
  • Extensive experience in curriculum development, training and implementation 
  • Experience teaching in STEM fields, with knowledge of working with students in laboratory/makerspace environments
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of makerspace tools (e.g., 3-D printers, laser cutters, and fabrication equipment)
  • Experience working with first-generation and/or low-income students to promote student success
