Opportunity to join ConocoPhillips Australia in the position of Training & Competency Systems Specialist.

Job Description

ConocoPhillips’ Australian headquarters are located in Brisbane. Our focus is supplying Australian customers with natural gas and international customers with liquefied natural gas. We do this through our 47.5 percent interest in the Australia Pacific LNG joint venture, one of the largest producers of natural gas in eastern Australia. ConocoPhillips Australia also operates the Australia Pacific LNG liquefied natural gas facility near Gladstone. We are also an exploration company, with ongoing exploration occurring in the Bowen and Surat Basin in Central Queensland and new exploration in the Otway Basin along the southern coast of Australia to identify natural gas reserves for supply to Australian customers.

Based in either Gladstone or Brisbane and reporting to the Training & Competency Supervisor, the Training & Competency Systems Specialist will oversee the Learning Management and Competency Management systems and engage with personnel at all levels of the organisation to facilitate and drive training compliance.

The Training & Competency Systems Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Focal point for T&C to Global Learning teams supporting functionality of Workday (LMS) and Kahuna (CMS).
  • Point of contact for day-to-day support for employees and contractors using CoP Learning Management System (LMS) and Competency Management System (CMS).
  • Manage the Contractor Competency Assurance process through Beakon to maintain contractor competency compliance.
  • Conduct regular analysis, reporting and targeted workforce communications,
  • Project manage the development and implementation of eLearning training programs to suit ABU needs.
  • Manage technical training needs of Brisbane office-based personnel.
  • Manage and maintain CoP training and competency systems (Workday, Kahuna).
  • Lead continuous improvement of the Beakon CCA system.
  • Maintain Training Matrix for both CoP and Contractor personnel.
  • Collaborate with T&C Coordinator to maintain Annual and 3-year Training Plans.
  • Represent the T&C function to meetings when required by the T&C Supervisor.
  • Support training related invoice review and approval per segregation of duties.
  • Support and take part in compliance audits.
  • Support the T&C Coordinator in scheduling and delivering training events.

About you

You will bring the following to the role:

  • Cultural alignment with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT Values
  • TAE Cert 4 in Training and Assessment or have substantial relevant experience and be ready to undertake latest TAE Cert 4 training.
  • Experience in application of compliance management systems or data analytics and visualisation.  
  • Sound understanding of industry related technical competency framework.
  • Encourages creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • HSE ownership & accountability.
  • Effective communication skills – all levels of the organization.
  • Scheduling, planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities.
  • Proven experience in managing learning and development programs with a focus on Training Needs Analysis, Learning Systems Management and Competency Systems Management in the resources sector (preferred).
