Port Harcourt — The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, is set to officially break the ground for Nsik Oil and Gas Limited’s 10 million standard cubic feet per day, Mmscf/d, Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, station in Esit Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

The ground breaking ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, March 20, 2025, marks a significant step in Nigeria’s gas infrastructure expansion.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Nsik Oil and Gas Limited, Mr. Nsikan Johnny, described the project as a game-changer for the South-South region and Nigeria as a whole.

“This facility is a major milestone in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s push for a cleaner and more sustainable energy future through the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund,” he stated.

Johnny emphasized the project’s economic benefits, including job creation and enhanced energy accessibility.

“Beyond boosting the economy, this initiative will generate employment for thousands of Nigerian youths while promoting cleaner fuel alternatives,” he added.

The upcoming facility aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to expand gas infrastructure, reduce dependence on petrol, and accelerate the adoption of CNG as a viable alternative for transportation and industrial use.

The ceremony will take place at the project site in Uqua Isi Edoho, Esit Eket Local Government Area, with key government officials, industry stakeholders, and community leaders expected to attend.
