Vipo has opened a new Swellable Packer Manufacturing facility in Monclova, Ohio. This factory was established to better supply the long-standing oil and gas customer with swellable packers for use in installations all over the world.
The opening of this production facility is an important milestone for Vipo’s supplier-customer relationship. This expansion is extremely positive for Vipo’s U.S facility and will increase capacity and responsiveness to customers based in the Americas.
“The cooperation between the Norwegian and U.S. team has successfully set up a complex production line up within a tight deadline,” said Thor Hegg Eriksen, Managing Director of Vipo. “This new facility enhances our operational capabilities and service offerings in a key market.”
“Oliver Strbik and Dr. Adeline Miermont Butcher were able to overcome every obstacle to get the process up and running,” added Carol Wedding, General manager of Vipo’s U.S. Facility. “This effort was helped by the partnering with local businesses in Northwest, Ohio who were able to provide quick turnarounds for custom parts and facility improvements.”
Development of the facility began in June 2024, and was completed in November 2024. First shipments are scheduled for the first quarter of 2025 with full scale production by the third quarter of 2025. The new facility brings new employment opportunities to the local area.
Strong growth in the U.S. is anticipated as Vipo continues to grow and innovate within the oil and gas, defense, automotive, and military markets offering its specialized rubber products and other engineered solutions.
