Petroleum Ministry, NiPetE partner on local content development

Port Harcourt — The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has secured the support of the Nigeria Institution of Petroleum Engineers, NiPetE, in enhancing its local content development initiative, aimed at driving sustainable growth and empowering local communities.

The partnership seeks to enhance local content development, address industry challenges, and leverage expertise for practical solutions.

Speaking on the development, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, expressed gratitude to NiPetE for recognising the Ministry’s efforts and offering to collaborate. He emphasised the importance of partnerships with stakeholders within and outside the industry.

Lokpobiri said the Ministry had consistently prioritised partnerships with all stakeholders, both within and outside the industry, to address the challenges facing the sector.

He said: “Local content development has been one of our flagship initiatives, driving sustainable growth and empowering local communities. I am sincerely grateful to the Nigeria Institution of Petroleum Engineers for recognising our efforts and offering to support our vision for continuity.

“NiPetE’s desire to collaborate, particularly in enhancing local content development, aligns perfectly with our strategic goals.”

“Their focus on engaging with the academic community and leveraging industry expertise to provide practical solutions is commendable and much needed.
