Texas RRC levies over $2 million in penalties for oil and gas violations

(WO) — The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) has imposed more than $2 million in fines on operators and businesses for violations within the state’s oil and gas industry. The penalties, totaling $2,173,382.40, were assessed during the August 2024 Commissioners’ Conference, involving 715 enforcement dockets.

The RRC, responsible for regulating the state’s oil and gas sector and ensuring pipeline safety, issued these fines through various enforcement actions. Default orders were issued against operators who failed to appear at Commission proceedings, while agreed orders required operators to comply with RRC regulations.

Detailed information on the fines from the master default and agreed orders can be found on the RRC Hearings Division and General Counsel web pages, respectively.
